Transport

The attraction of Alton to many businesses is that the town is in easy reach of main roads and the larger towns and cities. The A31 runs past Alton, linking it to Winchester 18 miles to the west and Guidlford 20 miles to the east. Basingstoke is about 13 miles to the north and the south coast is within easy reach; it’s about 30 miles to both Portsmouth and Southampton.

Businesses can access the A31, A3, A34, A303, M3, M4 and M25 with relative ease, giving good connections to the rest of the country. Alton is also the terminus of the railway to London, offering direct trains to Waterloo and connections to many other places via Woking and Guildford. This is also a good bus service between Guildford and Winchester that serves Alton.

Apart from these transport connections, there is the added benefit that rents tend to low in comparison to other places in the area. When combined with its strategic location, Alton has a lot of practical elements that make it an appealing place to establish a business.
