The College is a purpose-built Sixth Form College with award-winning buildings especially designed for sixth form study. Our most recent buildings include a magnificent Art and Music Centre, the state-of-the-art Beacon Science Centre, an expansive Learning Resources Centre with large, open access IT facilities and Library and a new Sports Hall. Alton is an extremely popular college that attracts students from a wide area and from local and independent schools.

Set-up initially to implement the 'Alton 2020 Town Plan' issued in 2005, the Town Partnership has a wide remit to develop the town's facilities for both businesses and residents, improving the well-being and economic success of Alton. Alton Chamber of Commerce is represented on the ATP Executive Committee, taking a keen interest in a number of key projects relevant to businesses.

Chawton

Chawton House Library is a charity with a unique collection of books focusing on women's writing in English from 1600 to 1830. This specialist collection, set in the home and working estate of Jane Austen's brother, provides the opportunity to study and savour the texts in their original setting and inspires passion in readers of all ages. Guided tours of the house are available on certain weekdays, whilst the grounds are open every day during the week.

Holybourne

Amateur dramatics group which stages an energetic and diverse entertainment programme, including collaborations and partnerships with touring Theatre and other professional acts.

'Life in Alton' is a new publication coming to Alton in September 2008, operating from an office at 66 High Street, Alton - telephone 0845 0517751. It is a free bi-monthly magazine edited in Alton, focussing entirely on local issues and paid for by advertising. 10,000 copies will be distributed locally for people to pick up, so there are good advertising opportunities for local businesses.
