Hampshire Chamber of Commerce was formed a couple of years ago, joining together several smaller chambers. Since then they have become accreddited by the British Chambers of Commerce. The smaller ‘town’ chambers like ours are not able become directly accredited, so Hampshire Chamber decided to offer affilliation so that we can become a recognised chamber.
The benefit of affiliation to the Hampshire Chamber is that our members will be listed in the main Hampshire directory of businesses. Our members can also attend 2 Hampshire Chamber networking events for free each year. Also, through Alton Chamber, our members can use some of the Hampshire Chamber’s services in regards to making representations. The final benefit is that should any of our members wish to join Hampshire Chamber, their fee paid to Alton Chamber will be deducted from their subscription.
This process of affiliation will also allow Alton Chamber to rename its limited by guarantee company to match that of the association, allowing it to merge all its activities into one organsiation. Whilst this aspect is largely an internal administrative issue, it will make our job of running your Chamber that much more straightforward. After this, members will be transferred to the company and the committee members will be directors. This will offer committee members the protection of limited liability of £1 and allow the company to enter into contracts on behalf of the members.
