Guest speaker Councillor Patrick Burridge was a hit at this year’s Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony.
Held at the Alton House Hotel on 27 February this year’s Presidents Dinner was generally regarded as a great success by those who attended, largely due to the guest speaker Patrick Burridge. Having served on the District Council for almost twenty years he offered us a humorous insight into local government, in particular the often tricky subject of planning, based on his extensive experience serving on the Planning Committee. He also demonstrated humanity, pragmatism and his passion for local Government.
Patrick also presented this year’s Business Awards to the following organisations:
Business Growth: Brant Group for its impressive growth in the area of self-storage solutions
Innovation: Blindingly Simple for its innovative business model for the provision of industrial and focused business training.
Excellence: Mint Condition for their client focus and dedication, in particular their work with the Paralympic athlete Georgie Hermitage.
Mike Baker also received a lifetime membership award in honour of his many years of service on the Chamber Committee, in particular his four years as President – four innovative years which raised the profile of the Chamber, during a time that saw many changes in the town.
Congratulations to all of this year’s award winners which we hope to feature in future editions of this newsletter.
And thanks again to Patrick who is currently the Chairman of the Council and who is planning to stand down at the forthcoming election, due to ill health. We obviously wish him well for the future, and the Committee were honoured that he was able to join us at this event.
